New Construction Electrical

Complete new-construction electrical — service, rough-in, lighting, and trim-out — delivered as one accountable, schedule-respecting partner.

New construction is where electrical work has the most opportunity and the most risk. Get involved early and the system can be designed for how the home will actually be lived in and lit. Get involved late, or hire a crew that only thinks in code-minimums, and the result is a home that is wired but not designed — adequate outlets, flat lighting, and missed opportunities baked permanently into the walls.

Z&J takes custom homes and new builds across DFW from service to scene: panel and service, full rough-in, integrated lighting design, and finish-grade trim-out. Because we carry the whole electrical scope, there are no gaps between trades and no finger-pointing — one partner is accountable for the entire system.

Early design and load planning

The best new-construction electrical starts at the plan stage. We help builders and homeowners think through circuit planning, dedicated loads, lighting layers, control locations, and future-proofing (EV charging, generators, expansion) before the slab is poured. Decisions made on paper cost almost nothing; the same decisions made in finished walls cost a fortune.

We size the service and panel for the real load and for headroom, lay out lighting that the rooms deserve, and place controls where people actually reach for them.

Rough-in, lighting, and coordination

Through the build we perform a clean, code-first rough-in coordinated with framing, plumbing, and HVAC, and we integrate the lighting design directly into that rough so fixtures land precisely on the plan. Carrying both the electrical and the architectural lighting means there’s no handoff gap between “the electrician” and “the lighting” — it’s one coordinated system.

We keep the GC informed, flag conflicts early, and hit our windows so the overall schedule holds. A reliable electrical sub is one of the biggest levers on a build staying on time.

Trim-out, commissioning, and handover

At finish we install every device and fixture to a finish-grade standard, commission the dimming and controls, aim the accent lighting, and test the entire system. Then we walk the completed home with the builder and owner, demonstrate the lighting scenes, and hand over a system that works flawlessly and looks designed.

The payoff of one accountable partner shows up here: because the same team planned, roughed, and trimmed the job, the finished result matches the intent with no surprises.

Our process

01

Plan & spec

We plan circuits, loads, lighting layers, and controls with the builder and owner before construction starts.

02

Rough & coordinate

We rough the full system and lighting to plan, coordinating with every trade and keeping the schedule intact.

03

Trim & hand over

We trim, commission, test, and walk the finished home, handing over a fully designed and working system.

Frequently asked questions

When should you be involved in a new build?

As early as possible — ideally at the planning stage. Early involvement lets us design loads, circuits, lighting, and controls properly instead of working around decisions already locked into the framing.

Do you handle both the wiring and the lighting design?

Yes, and that’s the advantage. Carrying both means the lighting is designed into the rough-in, not bolted on at the end, and one partner is accountable for the whole electrical system.

Can you future-proof the home for EV charging or a generator?

Yes. We plan service capacity and provisions for EV charging, standby generators, and future expansion during the build, when adding them is inexpensive.
